Unity Through Worship

At our church children are not provided with adults during praise and worship. They are often attend services appropriate to the age at which the message and music are aimed at them. Although relaxing for parents, I think we all miss something by not worshiping together.

Remember service in candlelight Christmas Eve, when the place is packed? Looking down the rows, people of all ages hold hands while singing "Silent Night, Holy Night." What sense of unity that is!

Since my family is praising God (in services where children are with us), look down the row and see people of all ages gather in their own way. Ahead of us can be dancing children. Behind us big people can be seated.

And often brings tears to my eyes. What should you do to the Father God to hear all her children through the unified worship?

Brother Andrew in "God's Smuggler", has knelt to pray with the head priest in another nation. While worshiping the same God, there were many differences in their personal styles and expressions.

They agreed to pray the Lord's Prayer together, each in their own language. Andrew said two lines in the prayer was given that they were brothers! All differences aside, never felt more unified with another man at that time.

As the time is for our benefit alone, God is not bound by the deadlines of our time. She turned her night and day, seasons and years for us on earth. Age is irrelevant for him. God has children or grandchildren. We do not mind the baby, the spirits of adults, and senior spirit within us! When God looks down the line, he sees the heart.

Scripture is full of directives for parents to "Train up a child on the way forward ..." and "Teach (laws) to your children and your children's children ..." What better to train and teach that to lead by example?

Children often imitate our words and behavior as they grow.

Then he taught them what the religion in question. That's how they learn.

In our mobile culture we have lost a lot of mentoring of generations past. The artists of several current hits speak for conducting worship their impact grandparents were in their early life.

There is no unity in worship. Something valuable happens to us, and touches the heart of God when his children - of all ages - Worship together.
